True Bespoke Story #33: Dan and Laura had an idea.
Dan met Laura a few years ago at company event. What was expected to be another boring work function turned out to be something much more. Chit-chat ensued, and a friendship developed. The next two years saw Dan & Laura meeting for coffee on weekends, gallery hopping in Soho on Thursday nights and finally, the all important visit to the family during the holidays. Everything was going well. Things got serious one night at
Bond St. when Dan said he had an idea. "What if we got married?" Laura nearly dropped her chopstick. "Married?" Laura didn't know what to say. "Say yes..." said Dan...and in a moment, they were engaged.
Laura didn't know if it was the sake or the chilled tuna tarts talking, but she said "I want to marry you next weekend. I know it's soon and we always said we would plan a big family wedding, but I don't want to wait - let's do what we want to do." After more sake Dan & Laura decided to escape to their favorite vacation place in Newport Beach to make it official. With their agreement, a plan was hatched but the logistics were missing.
Who do we call? How will we get there? Can we pull this off in time? Who would be able to help Dan's family arrive from Boston and Laura's from Chicago? Would the hotel be available? Who would cater it? Since Laura's company worked with Bespoke Transportation, she had an idea. "Let's call Bespoke Transportation. They did a client event for us last fall where they had luxury busses available at the last minute. I think they do personal events and logistics as well." Laura was right - a call was made and we helped plan a 30 - person wedding in 4 days in Newport Beach. Laura & Dan (and their daughter Payton) are still our friends (and clients!) to this day.
